Photographers are not terrorists!

Once again the humble photographer has been branded as a nuisance as he tries to take pictures.  Is it just me or do the Police use the "Prevention of Terrorism" law to enforce the "we don't like what you're doing so stop it" law.  For example who can forget the 82 year old gentleman ejected from the Labour conference for objecting about the Iraq war, he was arrested under the (guess what) Prevention of Terrorism act (you must see the video here).

I love the way the photographer in question, Jules Mattsson, kept his cool and forced the police who were trying to stop him taking photographs to back track, when they realised that they had no right to ask him to stop.  The urban myth of you have to have permission from their parents was used and he correctly told them that was not true (If it was the many city CCTV operators would have to ask the parents of any child in the town centres to sign forms).

The photographer, Jules Mattsson,  in the video is currently taking legal advise and will probably sue the police for stopping him carrying out his job (freelance photographer).  Photographers must really start pointing out to the Police that taking photographs of people in a public place is not illegal and no permission has to be sort.  You can read his story on his blog here.
